ABOUT DAVID GILILLAND
David Gililland is a clinician, educator, and writer whose work focuses on helping individuals and families navigate crisis, trauma, and major life disruption. Drawing from years of experience in clinical and behavioral health settings, he has worked closely with people facing personal upheaval and the difficult process of rebuilding identity, stability, and meaning.
In addition to his clinical work, Gililland has served as a professor and business owner, bringing an interdisciplinary and practical perspective to questions of resilience, failure, pressure, and transformation. His writing is shaped by both professional insight and personal experience, offering readers a blend of structure, compassion, and hard-earned hope.
Gililland writes and teaches with a focus on bringing psychology, story, philosophy, and lived experience into meaningful conversation with everyday life. He also tries to live a full and active life himself, whether through exercise, time outdoors, travel, or enjoying the water with his family. He has completed eight marathons, including qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon.
Gililland lives in Texas with his wife and daughters. His family continues to shape his understanding of resilience, responsibility, and what it means to begin again.
